Right now, it can manage sets, export individual cards to PDF (Im working on PNG export too, and exporting whole sets in one go), and it supports my own high-quality custom Magic template versions of the current standard frame (including basic lands with large mana symbols) and tokens both with and without rules text boxes.

Im also planning to add support for a full-art basic land template and an expeditions-style full-art frame for non-basic lands - the templates are drawn, I just need to slice them up and write the code to use them.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here had any interest in such an app, and if so, what ideas and wants for features they might have.

Obligatory screenshot: Edit: A couple more screenshots: First, this shows the Card Extras tab, which contains the promo text, the date overlay, any notes you want to put in about the card, and some settings you can change about the card, including overriding the default colour and type detection.

This shows the Set Info tab, where you choose the expansion symbols, the set code and language, and the default border colour.

Or if not using the same format, at least being able to import and export MSE files tofrom Artifice.

Without a feature like this, Id be reluctant to use Artifice because if I switch computers or you stop working on the program or something, I might not be able to finish my set.

Share Report Save level 2 I Made Artifice Original Poster 4 years ago Technical differences in how Artifice and MSE work make actual file-level compatibility unlikely, but I am working on the ability to importexport a set fromto a Gatherer format text file.

I would see if you could use MSEs images for the frames though yours look a little bit off.

Otherwise the text looks excellent.

Two reasons why I will not be using MSEs templates: fundamental technical differences in how Artifice renders cards, and that I cant render MSEs frames at 600dpi.

Be careful if you intend to supply high-resolution card frames that look exactly like the actual cards.

MSE and its community ran into some trouble a while back, I think, because that kind of thing can (ostensibly) be used to counterfeit and brushes up against copyright.

That said, dont let this dissuade you from continuing -- I know a couple people who have been waiting for something like this:) Can it handle varying text sizes, colored artifacts, the holofoil stamp border shape, and custom set symbols One of the main draws of MSE is (with Pichoros expansions) that it can produce basically anything thats been printed.

The templates Ive drawn are designed to look good printed, without being convincing as fakes.

Its another approach to the same problem MSE has - I also have no desire to help counterfeiters.

They just preemptively refrain from supporting ultra resolution templates because in principle the only person who needs them is a counterfeiter.

I will probably not be including an editor for set symbols, as if you are on a Mac, you have access to Illustrator and Affinity Designer, both of which are far more capable than anything I can make.

One of the main draws of MSE is (with Pichoros expansions) that it can produce basically anything thats been printed.

MSEs been around for years, and has an active community working on it.

That said, theoretically Artifice can do any card, it just needs the right template graphics and code added.
